My poem ‘Distorted rainbows’ responds to Lincoln Austin’s ‘ I saw myself, in you, wondering, how did I get here’ – Winner of the ‘Art for Life’ Award. And my poem ‘Pixel-printed’ responds to Michelle Le Plastrier’s ‘Food-O-Matic + Pixel Printed Food’ – Winner of the Environmental Art Award.

The QRAA Ekphrasis project features work from poets who have lived and worked in urban, rural, regional and remote settings; work reflecting First Nations and LGBTQI+ communities; working artists and writers; published and unpublished writers; and poets who are emerging and well established.

I’m thrilled to announce that my picture book All the Colours of the Rainbow, with illustrations by the amazing Sha’an d’Anthes, will be out on 29 January 2025 with Hachette Australia!
Huge thank you to my agent Danielle Binks for championing this book from the very beginning!
ABOUT ALL THE COLOURS OF THE RAINBOW
People are like rainbows – each colour is different, and you can choose to be any colour of the rainbow. A gentle look at gender diversity and acceptance by non-binary transgender poet Rae White, with illustrations from award-winning artist Sha’an d’Anthes.
Jem is a kid who sometimes loves wearing yellow dresses and sometimes loves wearing blue jeans. They feel like a girl when searching for bugs and lizards in the rain, and like a boy when running around under the sun. And when there’s a rainbow in the sky, they feel like a boy and a girl, like both and neither.
Some adults in Jem’s life only want to see in black and white, leaving Jem confused about what choices they have, until Mum helps them with a different and wonderful way of seeing the world.

ABOUT THE BOOK
What does it mean, to exist in a queer body? To love, to lust, to rebuild and rework and miss something intangible? In this anthology of Australian sci-fi, seven writers and three artists explore these questions through a series of weird and wonderful dimensions, times, and worlds.
Celestial Bodies includes works by Annalise Jensen, Konstanz Muller Hering, Julian Lawrence, Dawn Tasker, Caity Webster, Marlee Jane Ward, Aidan Demmers, Treffery Webb, Luca Masnata, and myself.

Share the love in a one-day only pop-up writing event with Trent Dalton and a troupe of writers, including myself!
Join us in King George Square on Friday 6 September from 12pm-2pm to help us share and write love stories.
Whether it’s love lost or found, brief or everlasting, pour your heart out and share the love with us this Brisbane Festival, with thanks to Museum of Brisbane.
