Books+Publishing reviews All the Colours of the Rainbow
Last week Angela Meyer at Books+Publishing wrote a wonderful review of All the Colours of the Rainbow!
‘This bright picture book also serves an important purpose: encouraging adults to listen and understand while giving gender-diverse children the confidence to express themselves.’
ALL THE COLOURS OF THE RAINBOW out January 2025 with Hachette!
I’m thrilled to announce that my picture book All the Colours of the Rainbow, with illustrations by the amazing Sha’an d’Anthes, will be out on 29 January 2025 with Hachette Australia!
Huge thank you to my agent Danielle Binks for championing this book from the very beginning!
ABOUT ALL THE COLOURS OF THE RAINBOW
People are like rainbows – each colour is different, and you can choose to be any colour of the rainbow. A gentle look at gender diversity and acceptance by non-binary transgender poet Rae White, with illustrations from award-winning artist Sha’an d’Anthes.
Jem is a kid who sometimes loves wearing yellow dresses and sometimes loves wearing blue jeans. They feel like a girl when searching for bugs and lizards in the rain, and like a boy when running around under the sun. And when there’s a rainbow in the sky, they feel like a boy and a girl, like both and neither.
Some adults in Jem’s life only want to see in black and white, leaving Jem confused about what choices they have, until Mum helps them with a different and wonderful way of seeing the world.
I signed a new book contract!
I’m still in shock about this wonderful, beautiful news – I have signed a contract with Hachette Australia to publish my first picture book!!! The awesomeness this week just keeps on coming 💖
I’m so grateful for my agent Danielle Binks at Jacinta di Mase, who championed this manuscript from the beginning, and to Kate Stevens at Hachette for her enthusiasm and support in publishing this gentle children’s book about gender diversity and acceptance, for readers aged 4+

What the story is about:
Jem loves wearing yellow dresses or blue jeans. Jem feels like a girl when searching for bugs and lizards in the backyard, and like a boy when running around in fast circles.
Some adults in Jem’s life only want to see in black and white, but with Mum’s help, Jem learns people can be whoever they want to be – they can be any colour of the rainbow.
