I am available for the following work:

Speaking and performance

  • I am available for hosting and master of ceremonies (MC) work, as well as tailoring presentations and speeches to your needs, chairing or participating on panels, and hosting book launches.
  • I have experience as a host and MC, including facilitating events for Queensland Poetry, Red Room Poetry and Gold Coast Libraries, and I have chaired panels for Brisbane Writers Festival, Queensland Poetry Festival, Emerging Writers Festival, and National Young Writers Festival.

Workshops, education, school visits and training

  • I am available for workshop facilitation, teaching, school visits, guest lectures and tutorials.
  • I am available for training and talks for businesses and organisations in the areas of gender and LGBT+ inclusion in business, gender diversity and equality, and allyship.
  • I specialise in training for a range of people, including young people, adults, queer and transgender people, business professionals etc. (Note: I have Blue Card and Working With Children approval.)
  • My ‘Writing for Children’ workshop dives into the magical world of picture books, guiding you through the process of crafting captivating stories, and sharing valuable tips on finding the right illustrators and publishers to bring your book to life.

  • My ‘How to Make a Zine’ and ‘Zines for Young People’ workshops gives participants from diverse backgrounds an understanding of zines and zine culture, as well as the tools they need to start working on a small zine on a topic of their choice.

  • My ‘Bitsy Basics’ workshop teaches participants how to create short games in Bitsy – a free, easy to use game creator, which has a range of colourful, poetic storytelling and world-building possibilities.
  • My ‘Creative Collage’ and ‘Blackout Poetry’ workshops encourage participants to embrace play and creativity by exploring the potential of found texts and images through collage and blackout poetry.
  • My ‘Spoken Word Poetry’ workshop explores the craft of spoken techniques and performance, giving participants tools to take their poetry from page to stage.
  • My ‘Queer Poetics’ workshop gives LGBTQIA+ people tools to express themselves – allowing them to portray their lives through poetry and explore their poetic voice.
  • In 2024 I spoke to senior Literature students at Centenary State High School about spoken word and performance.

‘Rae was a really engaging presenter, both as a whole group and in one-on-one conversations with students about their work. An easygoing, and cheerful presenter, which was needed for students who were giving up their after school time to take part. Rae worked with me beforehand to design activities that suited the assignment rather than just general craft tips.’ – Danielle Ringrose, Literature & English Teacher, Centenary SHS.

  • In 2020 I facilitated a series of five workshops called Let’s Talk Stories for the Hunter Gender Alliance (HGA), as well as a poetry workshop at their 2019 conference.

A word from HGA: ‘We had the privilege to work with Rae at the Our Lives Conference in 2019. We were struck by Rae’s compassion and professionalism – and the fact that there were 20+ people in their room, writing poetry and enjoying it.’

  • In 2021 I facilitated a series of six workshops on poetry for Open Doors Youth Service.

‘Rae was a sensitive, insightful and fun facilitator. They are engaged and engaging; and absolutely made all participants feel comfortable. Their ability to work with a diversity of young people and our brief was nothing at all like school; it was really amazing.’ – Teddy McDiarmid, Open Doors Youth Service (ODYS).
